Guerande salt is a 100% natural, complete product: unrefined, unwashed and free of additives. Compared to industrial salts, it has lower sodium content and a varied mineral composition including bio-available magnesium, potassium, calcium and trace elements.
The production of sea salt involves a technique that has remained unchanged for over a thousand years. Skilled raking of sea salt marshes not only produces quality salt, but also helps to preserve the site. In Guerande, salt is harvested daily and by hand only. Today, the Guerande salt marsh is one of the last places in France to produce salt using the traditional way.
The quality of sea salt of Le Guerandais is now accredited by a number of certificates regularly checked by independent bodies. The certificates are: Label Rouge, Nature & Progres and ISO 9001.
